HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR

  • Responsible for keeping First Aid Certificate and WCB Safety Requirements current (involves detailed record keeping)
  • Ensure the plant meets all current Provincial safety standards, keep site in a safe and orderly state as per WCB regulations and Company Rules & Regs
  • Chair monthly Safety Committee Meetings and provide written reports
  • Conduct Safety Orientation with new staff
  • Monitor and schedule work for staff on modified duties (return to work)
  • Coordinate safety and equipment training programs, safety drills, and conduct site audits/safety inspections for all work shifts
  • Work toward reducing WCB claims and costs
  • Manage the investigation of incidents and the consequent development of informed safety practices

    Summary of Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid First Aid Certificate an asset
  • Thorough understanding of BC’s WCB Regulations
  • Proven experience developing and leading Health & Safety Programs
  • The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, effective in communications with management, supervisors, staff, and relevant government officials
  • Great at multi-tasking, has very strong organizational skills, good problem solver, knows how to prioritize and set goals
  • Basic computer and internet skills
  • 5+ years in a similar role in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Post Secondary Education in the Health & Safety field is an asset
